Several months ago, we embarked on an adventure that was very important to us: obtaining our B Corp certification. This certification recognizes companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, legal accountability, and public transparency.
A small group of employees volunteered to conduct our assessment and identify what actions in each area of impact were needed to improve our level of responsibility. We then set up four corporate social responsibility (CSR) committees to allow us to achieve the objectives we set. These committees also make it possible to share responsibility for the actions to be implemented among several people. What’s more, the committee members naturally become spokespersons for our CSR.
Here is an overview of each committee and its mission.
Environment Committee
This committee’s mission is to implement initiatives that will have a positive impact on the environment. Among others, the members of the Environment Committee are tasked with creating an environmental policy; calculating the GHGs for the company’s travel; weighing the waste we produce; and improving our existing recycling, hazardous waste management, and procurement processes. In short, the committee must do everything possible to shrink our environmental footprint.
EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee
It was clear to us that we absolutely have to provide a caring and inclusive environment at Lü, which involves deconstructing unconscious biases, stereotypes, and prejudices. Each person is unique and deserves to feel heard and encouraged. The mission of the EDI Committee is to educate our team members on EDI issues and to implement initiatives that support equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Community Committee
The Community Committee is responsible for setting up a project for volunteer initiatives in the community. At Lü, it has always been important to support our community and this committee will allow us to plan our actions based on the employees who want to get involved throughout the year. As part of our effort to give back to the community, this committee is also responsible for formalizing the donation process.
Wellness Committee
Our employees’ well-being is a top priority. The Wellness Committee’s mission is to implement initiatives that benefit our employees’ health, safety, and overall well-being. Whether it’s by offering lectures by experts or through initiatives that encourage employees to move and take care of their mental health, the members of this committee are our coaches for a healthier life!
