The annual Lü Tournament is a unique opportunity to get moving, boost your students’ school spirit, and experience international competition… all from the comfort of your gym!

Of course, Lü tournaments are also meant to bring meaning to teachers’ and students’ physical education experiences. We believe that this year’s format will allow all of your students to feel a sense of accomplishment while having a lot of fun.

Intramural competition

For the 2022 Lü Tournament, we’re inviting you to create a competition between your school’s class groups in the Spörts application throughout November. The teams (class groups) will try to score as many basketball points as possible. The goal of this competition is to measure your students’ shooting accuracy in basketball.

This competition will allow you to choose three class groups (one per age group: ages 5–7, 8–10, and 11+) who will represent your school in the international competition.

Use Bräcket for intramural competition

Since September, you’ve been able to create your own tournaments with the Bräcket application. It will be available to all users for November. You can use this tool to track your class groups’ progress.

You can run the competition synchronously (by splitting the screen for two competing teams) or asynchronously (by recording each class group’s scores and then advancing them in the tournament sheet).

**Tip: You can copy one of our Bräckets and customize it for your school’s class groups:

School spirit through competition

The two-part format of the tournament was designed to promote school spirit while making sure your students have fun.

  1. The competition will make students feel good about your school.
  2. It will help class groups develop their teamwork as they work towards a common goal.
  3. It will keep students engaged in class.

It’s important to note that a sense of belonging has many benefits in areas like academic performance, participation in activities, absenteeism, motivation, and interpersonal relationships. That makes activities (like the Lü Tournament) that foster this feeling a valuable tool.

International competition

Once you’ve chosen your top three teams, we recommend creating an event around the international competition. That way, even though the remaining class groups won’t have made the competition, they’ll be proud to cheer on their peers as they fight for the championship!

Hold a big reveal for your schools’ competitors

Invite other class groups to cheer on your champions at the competition

Work with the art teachers to develop a media art project in support of your school’s international competitors

And don’t forget to take pictures and videos of this unforgettable event!

**Registration for the international competition is open until November 30! Register quickly!
