The year 2022 is coming to a close. Pride, growth, achievement, and success are just a few words that describe this exceptional year for Lü.
This past year was a busy one: we donated our 1000th system, we received several awards, we continued to grow, we held our first Bootcamp, and the list goes on. Here are some of our 2022 highlights.
COMPANY GROWTH
Lü has achieved phenomenal growth in 2022, which was also the year we celebrated our 5-year anniversary! We went from 25 employees to 55, and our revenue nearly doubled. We truly have the wind in our sails! We plan to sustain this growth in the coming year by creating new positions, among other things, to better meet the growing demand. At the beginning of the year, we also set up the Lü shareholding program. Our employees responded very positively, and the majority decided to embark on this adventure, which shows their commitment and trust in Lü.
While positive, our rapid growth came with some challenges. Changing our work methods, maintaining good internal communication, implementing different processes, and improving our documentation to ensure quality are a few examples of challenges we’ve faced over the past year. Yet, these challenges proved to be necessary and allowed us to better equip ourselves for the future!
DONATING THE 1000th AND 1001st LÜ SYSTEMS
Last March, we decided to call for project proposals in order to donate our 1000th unit to a school or organization where Lü would have a significant impact. After receiving hundreds of applications, our external jury decided to offer two systems rather than one. The Alphonse-Desjardins School, in Repentigny, and the Centrale School, in La Tuque, received their new Lü systems in August, right in time for back-to-school. During the systems’ unveiling, our team witnessed the wonder and joy on the teachers’ and students’ faces, which allowed us to see that, through this gesture, Lü will have a significant impact on the entire community.
RECOGNITION AND AWARDS
Lü was recognized several times in 2022, and we couldn’t be prouder!
- In April, we won the EdTech Cool Tool Award 2022 in the “Games for Learning/Simulation Solutions” category, which recognizes companies contributing to the technological transformation of education.
- In September, Lü was recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies in The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. Lü was ranked 177th out of 430 companies!
- In October, we were presented the MercadOr 2022 award in the “Market Diversification – Companies with sales over 5 million dollars” category, which means we will represent Capitale-Nationale at the next MercadOr gala in May 2023.
- Also in October, during the Fidéides gala, we won the Fidéides 2022 award in the “Startup” category and received the “Small business of the year” award for all categories. We’re proud of this recognition from our peers and other passionate, visionary entrepreneurs in the greater Québec City area.
- In November, Lü was ranked 460th (thanks to a 271% growth over the last 3 years) in the 2022 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, which honors the most innovative, fastest-growing companies from all over North America!
- Lü was also mentioned several times in the local media throughout 2022, including by Le Devoir, L’actualité, La Presse, Radio-Canada, and TVA.
We could only achieve all this thanks to the invaluable work of our talented and motivated team, who share the same aspiration of improving the lives of children around the world.
THE LÜ EXPERIENCE
Our users have truly been a priority this year.
Our teams have worked tirelessly to provide our users with new content, both applications and CMS content, not to mention the 2022 Lü Tournament which was once again a great success.
A new training program was also made available. Its objective is to ensure every new user gets better support to learn how to use their new Lü system optimally.
In 2022, we also entered partnerships with Université Laval, the University of Sherbrooke, and the University of Lausanne, in Switzerland. Thanks to this collaborative work, we’ll be able to continue our research projects to better understand the relevance of our product and its positive impacts on children.
LÜ BOOTCAMP
Our first ever Lü Bootcamp took place in October!
What’s the Lü Bootcamp? It’s an event to which Lü ambassadors as well as our partners’ instructors and sales representatives were invited to receive training and familiarize themselves with our products and applications. A total of 23 participants attended the Bootcamp, which took place directly in our Québec City office, and received their official certification. Beyond providing an opportunity to learn and train, this event also allowed our employees and the participants to connect, since many of them were meeting for the very first time. The event was a great success and appreciated by everyone.
We’re excited for 2023 and look forward to sharing with you all the projects we plan to carry out this upcoming year. We’ll work hard to improve the experience, relevance, and impact of our product for educators and students, and to make it available to more children around the world.
